Eco-Tours

Today many different types and definitions of ecotourism exist, however The International Ecotourism Society  (TIES) give the following definition which has been widely accepted: "responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the environment and improves the well-being of local people."
This means that travelers must think and act responsibly in all aspects of their holiday experience in order to minimize their impacts on the environment and local community. In addition, eco-tour companies must hold principles and practices that seek to either preserve conserve the environment and wildlife whilst protecting and empowering the local people. The following principles should be followed by everyone who implements and participates in ecotourism activities:
  •  Minimize impact
  •  Build environmental and cultural awareness and respect
  •  Provide positive experiences for both visitors and hosts
  •  Provide direct financial benefits for conservation
  •  Provide financial benefits and empowerment for local people
  •  Raise sensitivity to host countries' political, environmental, and social climate
  •  Support international human rights and labor agreements

Agro-tourism

– Definition The concept of agro-tourism is a direct expansion of ecotourism, which encourages visitors to experience agricultural life at first hand. Agro-tourism is gathering strong support from small communities as rural people have realized the benefits of sustainable development brought about by similar forms of nature travel. Visitors have the opportunity to work in the fields alongside real farmers and wade knee-deep in the sea with fishermen hauling in their nets.

Nature Travel

- Definition
Nature travel interlinks with ecotourism however it concentrates more on enjoying and respecting the wildlife and the environment without the educational element present in ecotourism.

Family and Friend Visits Integrated with Adventure Travel

Reflecting for a moment; how many of us love family and friends but find yourselves talking more about the good old days than inventing new fun experiences that bring you even closer. Many boomers and seniors are functioning as their family and friendship compass as they influence both and across several generations. Many travel with their grandkids to provide life-enriched experiences early on. The senior games are an excellent catalyst to create positive excitement and support among friends – new and old, and family – close and those who desire to be even closer. You can literally plan your visits around games held year round in 49 states and many countries. You can create friendships in states and countries in advance of your visit, easily through this web channel in the community forum.

Safe Adventures

In a world that seems to continually feel smaller as more chains define each community to look just like the one you left, people are becoming savvy and appreciative of advice that gets them off the “been there, done that” beaten-to death path. Nor are many of us half as courageous as Timothy Treadwell, the famed Grizzly Man who lost his life doing something that most thought as extremely dangerous. For most of us lucky enough to see him present to children or appear on a TV show, he captivated our attention and imagination for what’s possible. But “safe” adventures are intended to be just that... safe.
Listening to friends who have worked in the Peace Corps in Thailand and parts of Africa, to friends that have hiked the Himalayan’s or traveled the back country of some European or Pacific Rim countries, plus our own extensive travels across the U.S. and Europe, we all had one thing in common – the feeling that these were highly satisfying, life-shaping “safe” adventures none-the-less. As we keep our eyes and ears open, we will present special opportunities for your attention. Remember, your attitude about life needs to be balanced with new opportunities that excite you whether you are in your 40’s or in retirement, the expression “life is what you make of it” holds true.
